About IAAE
International Association of Agricultural Economists The International Association of Agricultural Economists (IAAE) was established in 1929 by fifty agricultural economists from eleven countries who met at Dartington Hall, Devon, England, UK. Countries represented at that conference included Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, Germany, New Zealand, Norway, South Africa, Trinidad, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Those attending concluded periodic conferences would benefit agricultural economists throughout the world by increasing their knowledge of other nations' challenges and by promoting mutual understanding and goodwill.
Leonard K. Elmhirst Memorial Lectures The Leonard K. Elmhirst Memorial Lectures began in 1976 in honor of the founder of the International Conference of Agricultural Economists (ICAE), and the International Association of Agricultural Economists (IAAE). The Lectures have traditionally been presented in the opening session of the triennial Conference, immediately following the Presidential Address. Leonard Knight Elmhirst was born in Yorkshire, England on 6 June 1893, and died in California, USA, on 16 April 1974.
