The following tours are free to delegates and accompanying persons who have paid the full-time registration fee. Be sure to indicate your tour preference on your registration form. We will endeavor to accommodate your preference, but tours will be assigned on a first come first serve basis pending availability.

Tour 1
Australian Wine and Food Showcase

12:00 to 6:00 pm

Sirromet Winery
The Sirromet Winery is Queensland's largest and most highly awarded winery - winning numerous prestigious awards for their outstanding wines and facilities. The Mount Cotton headquarters combines a fully operating vineyard, winery, cellar door and restaurant in a location alive with breathtaking views, natural scenery and abundant wildlife.

During this trip you will tour the state-of-the-art winery, learning the procedures of growing grapes and producing wine in Southeast Queensland. You will enjoy world-class tasting, with ten different wines and a complimentary Sirromet glass. All this with spectacular views of rolling vineyards and native bushland looking out to Moreton Bay and the sand ridges of North Stradbroke Island.

Food & Wine Showcase
After the tour group has returned to the convention center around mid-afternoon, leading representative of the Australian wine industry will give presentations on aspects of the Australian industry, including an overview of Australian wine regions and wines, the role of technology in the Australian wine industry, and developments in the marketing of Australian wine. These presentations will be followed by a guided tasting of a representative sampling of wines from all over Australia hosted by the winemakers, accompanied by a sampling of local food products. The tour will conclude about 6.00 pm. The wine makers will continue to offer samplings of their wine throughout the barbeque to follow so delegates who opt for other tours may share in the experience.

Western Tour

Canungra Valley Winery
O'Reilly's Canungra Valley Vineyards is a grand Queensland homestead, filled with people passionate about fine wine and food. It is one of the premium boutique cellar doors in South East Queensland, a newly emerging wine growing region. Canungra Valley soil is well suited to grapes and the creek running through the property is home to a family of platypus, regularly sighted from the specially constructed viewing platform. The trip includes wine tasting, lunch and a tour of the vineyard and beautiful grounds.

Broadlands Farm, Beaudesert
Broadlands Farm is a privately owned cattle farm offering delegates the opportunity to experience firsthand the environment, challenges and rewards of cattle farming in Southeast Queensland.

Broadlands Farm is an 1,418 hectare property in the Kerry Valley at the foot of Mt Withern.

The property runs Santa Gertrudis breeders joined to Black Angus bulls, producing steers for the EU market, which are finished on improved pastures.

 

Tour 3
Northern Tour

Carlton & United Brewery
Experience Australia's best known brands of beer such as VB, Carlton Cold, Carlton Draught, Carlton Midstrength, Crown Lager and Cascade Lager. You'll see first hand the new state-of-the-art brewing and packaging technology in action as the guided tour takes in the full brewing process - from raw ingredients to brewing, bottling and then our amazing new distribution centre. The trip includes a tour of the brewery, beer sampling and lunch.

Rocky Point Sugar Mill
Using renewable energy sources to power the mill, the Rocky Point site has adapted new ideas and technologies that will ensure the sugar industry continues to meet modern demands. The trip will include a tour of the mill and a look at the innovative developments.

Strawberry Farm
Delegates will visit a working strawberry farm, in peak strawberry season. The trip includes afternoon tea and a stroll through the strawberry fields.

Southern Tour

Tropical Fruit World
Tropical Fruit World is the home of the world's largest variety of tropical fruit. It is an opportunity to experience first hand the fascinating world of tropical and exotic fruit. There is always an amazing variety of delicious fruit in season to sample, as well as chutneys, jams, spreads, salad dressings and preserves that are absolutely unique to the plantation.

Our trip includes lunch and a tour taking in the ambiance of this incredible and beautiful tropical fruit orchard.

Sugar Cane Farm
The Quirk Farm is a privately owned sugar cane farm offering delegates the opportunity to experience firsthand the challenges and rewards of cane farming in New South Wales. Robert Quirk has been working with scientists to overcome environmental issues caused by cane farming in the region and now runs intensive soil management programs to counteract acid sulphate soil problems that were affecting local waterways.

Melaleuca Station
Delegates will visit Melaleuca Station, a tea tree plantation epitomising Australian bush culture. An afternoon tea will be served around a camp fire, with Billy Tea and Damper. There will also be a steam train ride through the Tea Tree farm, with the opportunity to learn about this native Australian product.
